A tower block: 120 apartments – 350 residents, half of them Germans, the others migrants from ten nations. A microcosm, an uncontrolled experiment, possibly an early warning system for a new mix on the social fringe. Stories about life, refuge and survival come together. An intersection of hopes, dreams and conflicts. The language is one problem, the social organisation the other: Clan structures on the side of the Balkans, friendly, but insecure Syrians and Iraqis and the long-established residents, fighting for their self-assertion. A fragile balance.
