The residents of the Torgauerstraße asylum-seeker home in Leipzig have to move. The city council has decided by a narrow majority to construct new accommodation using modular containers close to the motorway: The asylum-seekers should not be allowed to live directly in a residential area. Leipzig’s Refugees Council describes the decision of the city council as racist and inhuman. The ground chosen for the new home was regarded in earlier years as the main centre of the drug trade in Leipzig.
