Nike lives with her father on a small farm and works in Hanover in the aliens registration office. When her father must go into hospital suddenly she is left standing alone with the coming strawberry harvest and nothing but illegal harvest helpers. Nike decides to save the farm. Here previous life changes rapidly. Nike gains in self-confidence and starts a cautious friendship with the Bosnian Milena. Like the other harvest helpers she does not have a residence permit and must hide from the police.
