Between 1955 and 1975, the life of whole villages in the South and East of Europe changes. Only the children and old people stay. The others emigrate since they cannot earn sufficient money in their own country. The children stay behind with relatives. Eleni can scarcely remember the time alone in Greece. Tayfun can remember it well, he has positive memories of the time. Eleni’s memories are rather negative. Most parents later brought their children to Germany. It proved impossible, however, to develop an undisturbed parent-child relationship. The relationship remains strained.
