... and then Halle.

Antisemitism in Europe. (09.10.2024)

Five years have passed since a heavily armed right-wing extremist attempted to force his way into a synagogue in Halle and kill its Jewish visitors. Thanks to the solid door of the building, the plan failed. However, the assassin shot and killed two other people near the synagogue. The attack significantly increased the feeling of insecurity among Jews. It sparked a debate about Antisemitism – a debate that was reignited by the Hamas terrorist assault on Israel on 7 October 2023 and the ensuing rise in anti-Semitic attacks.
Over the past 36 years, the European CIVIS Media Prize has honored contributions that deal with the topic of Antisemitism in an outstanding way. A selection of these contributions from television, radio, cinema and the Internet can be found here.
